12.27.10 – World-Class Architecture Showcased in PROOF!
PROOF! no. 4, the latest issue of Johnston Printing’s award-winning biannual art magazine, is hot off the presses.

Developed, designed, and written by Anderson Mraz Design, PROOF! is an ongoing opportunity for Johnston to concentrate on two of its core brand attributes: serving the unique printing and fulfillment needs of the Spokane area’s creative community, and a decades-long history of supporting the region’s visual arts community.
Featuring photography by Shane Young, the latest issue takes a look at the Modernist architecture movement in Spokane – in particular the work of Moritz Kundig – during a period of time that Washington State Architectural Historian Michael Houser calls “a burst of creativity” rivaling anything in the Northwest.

10.28.10 – Construction Company Builds Brand
When economic times are tough, competition gets tougher – particularly in the building industry. So when Bouten Construction Company decided to embark on a more aggressive marketing communications strategy to ensure their message stayed in front of prospective clients, they turned to Anderson Mraz Design.

In addition to a series of print ads for the Spokane and Tri-Cities markets, AMD developed two brochures for Bouten – one promoting general capabilities, the other healthcare expertise – as well as materials for the company’s trade show booth and a refresh of its proposal system.
“It’s outstanding work,” said owner and president Bill Bouten. “AMD understood our message, and knew instinctively how to communicate that message to a wider audience – bringing passion and purpose to everything they touched.”
09.16.10 – Spokane Architecture Firm Goes Live with a New Website
Pondera Architecture, a Spokane-based firm headed by Eric Armstrong, has a new web presence courtesy of Anderson Mraz Design.
Relatively speaking, it’s a small website, according to AMD senior designer Shirlee Roberts. And that presents unique challenges. “Designing an effective site can be easier when you have an unlimited page count and a huge budget,” she explained. “Our approach, no matter what the scope of the project, is to apply the same level of creativity, thought, and follow-through. Only then can we truly make the most of our clients’ investment.”
The new site, which features a portfolio of Pondera’s work, went live in August.

“That AMD was easy to work with, understood what I was looking for, and translated given information into a website that I liked is secondary,” said Armstrong. “What has been most impressive is the response I’ve gotten from people who’ve seen the site. Clients, industry partners, friends, and family have all been very impressed with how nice the site comes across. They say it does what a great website should do: it showcases my company and what my company has to offer – all while being extremely user-friendly.”
08.03.10 – Reinforcing Brand through Photography
Over the past couple of years, Anderson Mraz Design and J. Craig Sweat Photography have partnered with Avista to build a library of photography that supports the energy company’s marketing efforts. More specifically, the images aim to capture Avista’s brand essence as a trusted hometown utility, showing the great things that can happen to customers when you deliver reliable energy.

Avista gave the team unprecedented freedom, both conceptually and creatively. The resulting photos are individual slices of real life, using familiar locations and – whenever possible – real couples, families, and friends rather than professional models to tell Avista’s brand story. The images were shot mostly at dusk, making the benefit of energy immediately self-evident.
06.29.10 – PROOF! No. 3 Hits the Streets
The latest issue of Johnston Printing’s award-winning biannual art magazine took an unexpected turn with a look at tattooist Kristi Kilbourne, former Best Tattooed Female in America and owner of Lady Luck Tattoo in Spokane Valley.

Developed, designed, and written by Anderson Mraz Design, PROOF! focuses on a single artist in each issue; the first, published in spring 2009, featured photographer Leonid Bergoltsev; the second told the story of iconographer and Benedictine monk Brother Claude Lane.
In addition to serving as a vehicle for supporting the region’s visual arts community, PROOF! enables Johnston to demonstrate its printing and fulfillment capabilities to a wide-ranging audience.

06.18.10 – Remodeled Logo and Website for Regional Architecture Firm
When it came time for Integrus Architecture to update its logo and website, the firm knew it wouldn’t be anything at all like designing a building. So they turned to Anderson Mraz Design for some help in the 2-D realm. Integrus, now in its 57th year, has offices in both Spokane and Seattle.

“Working with a company like Integrus can be daunting,” said AMD principal and creative director CK Anderson. “The history,
the breadth of their work, the impact they’ve had on our community – it’s something that was always at the front of our
minds as we worked through the design process.”
Ultimately, said Anderson, the experience was a rewarding one for the entire AMD team.
“They’re an incredibly talented, knowledgeable, and well-prepared group,” said Marcine Herron, associate in charge of business development at Integrus. “And they have an impeccable work ethic,” she added.
Throughout the entire process, Herron said, AMD was patient and helpful – and, most important, creative. “We were challenged to think outside of our comfort zone to discover the best representation of who Integrus is.”
Herron reports that Integrus staff members are especially pleased with the results.

02.16.10 – AMD Does Some Fabricating of Its Own for Local Metal Shop
When it came time to consider a more aggressive marketing strategy, Spokane Valley metal fabricators Hydrafab Northwest realized they needed more than just a brochure. So they turned to frequent client Anderson Mraz Design. The two firms have collaborated in the past on a number of projects, including work for Avista and Itron.
“It became an exercise in re-evaluating their brand,” said CK Anderson, principal and creative director at AMD. “The experts at Hydrafab work at a level that simply wasn’t being expressed... more > (PDF 676K)
02.01.10 – AMD Authors University of Northern Colorado Tagline
In mid-January, when the University of Northern Colorado unveiled the school’s brand identity, tagline, and marketing messages to assembled students, faculty, and staff, few knew that a design firm a thousand miles away helped lay the groundwork for the celebration.
UNC’s new tagline, “Bringing Education to Life,” was created by Anderson Mraz Design, and forms the basis of the school’s year-long efforts to capture the essence of the UNC experience. Working with vice president of university relations Chuck Leonhardt, AMD dug deep into the school’s identity, culture, and philosophy – then distilled those thoughts and ideas into a four-word phrase that helps to communicate the benefits of a UNC education to a wider audience.
01.18.10 – AMD Goes behind the Camera for PE Systems
When Profit Enhancement Systems recognized they needed better tools for their salespeople, they turned to Anderson Mraz Design for help. The company, based in Spokane, uses proprietary analytic software to lower the fees associated with credit card payment processing for clients throughout the United States.
But it’s not always an easy sell, according to PE Systems director of marketing Kathleen Sullivan. “Both in telemarketing and in selling to executives, credibility is a huge issue,” she explained. “It’s hard to earn and harder still to communicate. AMD found a creative and strategic way... more > (PDF 1.1Mb)
